SURREY
V SOMERSET at the Kia Oval (Royal One-Day London Cup)
17 AUGUST 2022
It looks like the weather will spare Surrey further humiliation,
after conceding back-to-back 350+ List A totals for the first time
in their history. However, it would be unfair to be overly critical
given the extent to which the South Londoners' roster has been
ravaged by The Hundred.
Somerset haven't exactly had a great time in this season's Royal
London either. The Cidermen are yet to get off the mark in the
competition. However, they have come close on a couple of occasions
- when beaten by Durham by 9 runs and Middlesex by a solitary
wicket.
The Royal London has seen Ben Green (52.75), who has picked up a
thigh injury, Matt Renshaw (48.00) and 18-year-old James Rew (41.60)
in the runs for Somerset, while the bowling has been led by Sonny
Baker (9 wickets at 17.00) and Kasey Aldridge. Old stager Jack
Brooks has also been economical, plus fellow seamer Alfie Ogborne
has done little wrong in his three appearances to date.
Surrey v
Somerset - List
A Records Sheet
Somerset's George Bartlett
(480) and Lewis Goldsworthy (493) are closing in on 500 List A
career runs, while Matt Renshaw looks set to make his 50th List A
appearance.
Cameron Steel is still observing concussion
protocols, but Nick Kimber, who also missed last Sunday's chastening
trip to Hove, looks set to return after illness.

Rain ...but if the weather forecasters have
got it completely wrong about thunderstorms arriving around 1pm,
it's difficult to see the scars Surrey suffered at the hands of
Middlesex and Sussex healing so soon.
