MIDDLESEX
V SURREY at Radlett (Royal One-Day London Cup)
10 AUGUST 2022
With the 50-over London derby
pitting Middlesex, who have a win and a defeat, against Surrey, who
have won one, lost one and tied their third, there's everything to play for.
Each of Middlesex's likely top six have runs under their belts
after just two outings in the Royal London, in particular skipper
Stevie Eskinazi, who has opened his 2022 account with knocks of 56
and 146 not out. Mark Stoneman, who was in great form in last
summer's competition for the Oval outfit (scoring 329 runs at an
average of 54.83) is another who commands respect.
With the ball, leg-spinner Luke Hollman (7 wickets at 15.85 runs
apiece) has very nearly matched the 9 wickets he took in his 14
T20 games this season, while India seamer Umesh Yadav, signed for the Royal
London, has 6 at 15.50. Ethan Bamber has been tidy, but if the
North Londoners have a weakness it's that they're still waiting for
the supporting cast to arrive at the party.
Surrey v
Middlesex - List
A Records Sheet
Middlesex's Stevie Eskinazi
(978) is approaching 1,000 List A career runs and the North
Londoners have included Max Harris in their squad. If Harris plays,
he will be making his List A debut. Likewise, Surrey's Nathan
Barnwell is awaiting his first ever start.
Surrey have gone, again, with the same 12-man
squad, so no changes are expected.

The toss could be important because the
Brunton Memorial Ground seems to favour sides batting first. The
team setting a target have won all five List A fixtures at Radlett
since Essex's six-wicket success in 2018. However, the fact that,
for this clash, Middlesex have four Test players to Surrey's none,
the hosts should have enough to back up the supremacy they showed
against Durham the other day.
