LEICESTERSHIRE FOXES V SURREY LIONS at Leicester
(CB40), 21 AUGUST 2011
Having clinched a semi-final
berth in the Clydesdale Bank 40, all it remains for Surrey to do now
is secure a home tie in the last four, which, in all probability,
would see them take on Somerset. If the Lions win at Grace Road
tomorrow, they are certain to be one of the hosts on September 4.
With overseas signing Andrew
McDonald out with a twisted knee, Leicestershire aren't just missing
a destructive batsman, but an economical bowler. Two of the Foxes
old stagers, Claude Henderson and Matthew Hoggard have generally
kept things tight with the ball in the CB40, but only Hoggard has
taken wickets regularly enough to interrupt their opponents'
momentum.
James Taylor has been in
eye-catching form with the bat, making four scores of fifty or more
in seven visits to the crease in the CB40, while Josh Cobb (434 runs
at an average of 54.25) has been Leicestershire's Mr.Dependable at
the top of the order. But, other than Cobb and Taylor, there has
been precious little to write home about for the Foxes.

v Leicestershire List A Records sheet.
Surrey's Zander de Bruyn is
set to make his 200th appearance in List A one-day cricket, while
Tom Maynard (1,458) and Chris Schofield (1,954) are closing in on
1,500 and 2,000 List A runs respectively.
There are no real surprise inclusions in the Surrey squad, but will
the visitors use this game as an opportunity to give Tim Linley his
first taste of competitive cricket for more than a week?

Astonishingly, given Surrey's lack of consistency in recent years, the Lions have
won their last six List A meetings with Leicestershire. Furthermore,
the Foxes have garnered just one point from their last three CB40
outings; when their contest against Scotland in Aberdeen fell victim
to the weather. You've got to fancy Surrey, haven't you?!
